We continue our Remember When Wednesday series in preparation for the 2022 Melbourne and Sydney Spring Racing Carnivals 2022. This Wednesday we look at super Filly Fireburn, the winner of the Sydney Racing Golden Slipper in 2022. Career starts 7 for 5 wins, Fireburn looks destined for a BIG Spring Racing Carnival in both Melbourne and Sydney. $3.8 million of prize money tells the tale and is bounds to add to this tally by the end of the Spring Carnival 2022.
REMEMBER WHEN FIREBURN WINS THE GOLDEN SLIPPER
It all came into place for Fireburn at the start of the 2 year old 2022 Sydney Championships taking the Golden Slipper and backing it up with a big win in the Sires. It was only a HEAVILY biased leaders track that saw it miss the Triple Crown when beaten by She’s Extreme in the Champagne Stakes. Trainer Gary Portelli has been pretty vocal in the fact that he will be “easy” on the filly through the Spring expecting her to really blossom next Autumn. That said he is targeting the Group 1 Coolmoore for the 3 year olds down the straight at Flemington on Derby Day. So keep your eyes out for the early markets she will be very hard to hold out in a race like that as we look to Autumn 2023 for Fireburn.
