Sports tips for the new punter

sports-tipsHere are a few areas to focus on to help make your sports tips work for you:

Build some basic knowledge

Learn everything you can about sports betting and how the right sports tips can help your strategy. One of the keys in making profit in gambling is to be well equipped with the right information and knowledge. Start from the very basic. Learn the terms. Learn how you can place your bets online, and learn some tips and techniques as well.  It is important to understand how each sport works in relation to ratings and odds.

Gain access to the professional form of those in the know

Choose a reliable source for your sports tips and pre-race/game prices. This is crucial if you want to optimise your betting stake.

If in doubt, bet on the favourite

Always remember that the favourite is the favourite for a very good reason.  Experts have already done the form and priced it to win.  However, we all want to find those true value bets and thats where Pete Brinky’s Melbourne Racing tips are valuable.  Pete will always give you the horses in the race that will provide value and also have potential to win.

Free money is always good for maximising your bets

When you join up with online bookmakers, their are heaps of free bet bonuses that can help get you started in your bank building.  No reason why you can’t join them all and take advantage of the free cash.

Key types of betting strategies

There are two main types of betting: money line and point spread wagers.  In the money line wager, the bookmaker places the odds on the winner, and if he wins, then the total bet plus the initial amount is the net amount paid back to the winner.

For a point spread wager, the bet placed is slightly higher than the return expected.  For a win, the extra amount goes to the bookmaker and there is a collect only if the win is above the defined margin.  This is a common practice in many team sports betting like AFL and NRL.

“Laying” horses is simply predicting one horse in any race that you think will not win.  You then take bets from others that think the horse will win.  You can do this by pressing the PINK button on Betfair instead of the BLUE win button.
