Caulfield Cup 2019 Tips

Many outstanding horses have won the Caulfield Cup and none more so than the 2016 Caulfield Cup winner Jameka, who was also the winner of The BMW over the same distance at the Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival. Other brilliant winners of the Caulfield Cup in recent times include Lets Elope, Might and Power, Doreimus amongst a hose of highly talented if not champion horses.

In recent years there has been an influx of international horses coming to Australia to compete in the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival major staying races, the WS Cox Plate, the Melbourne Cup but also the Caulfield Cup.  Local horses have tended to dominate internationals over the years, but the internationals have been more competitive in recent times. It is also hard to compare the form of international horses here for the Caulfield Cup and for that reason we leave them out of the equation unless something screams at us.

Another interesting observation is the previous year’s 3yr olds competing in the Caulfield Cup. As a rule, they get into the race with a weight advantage to older horses, which is critical.  When assessing the form we would always go back to the previous seasons 3yr old form to assess and then run the ruler over consistent performed older staying types to position ourselves for Caulfield Cup betting.
