Group 1 $1.5 million Australian Cup – Flemington, Saturday 10 March 2017

The Australian Cup is a Group 1 Weight-for-age race held at Flemington racecourse in the Melbourne Autumn Racing Carnival 2018 and is held over 2000m and worth prize money of $1.5 million.

The race was first established in 1863 and became a Group 1 race in 1979. It is a brilliant race that is the standout of the middle distance races of the Melbourne Autumn Racing Carnival with many of the horses then going onto Sydney for the Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival 2018 and the 2000m Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Royal Randwick with prize money of $4 million beckons for the winner and placegetters.
