A Punters winning strategy

Hi Everyone,
Looking forward to a big days racing this Saturday at Flemington and Rosehill as we start the Autumn Racing Carnival.

We had an interesting email from a (winning) subscriber during the week, who outlined his betting strategy from last Saturdays successful day. Now for privacy issues we asked permission if we could forward this to our subscribers and that was fine.

We dont know how you bet, whether you stake plan, bet to a bank etc etc but we thought this was interesting as to strategy.

The subscriber bets about $200 on a Saturday, sometimes backs every horse in the race but rarely, if at all, back under the odds put up. He always backs each way anything over 10-1, even if more than one horse in a race.

Here is what his strategy was and return from Caulfield last Saturday. As you can see, he applied his own view but largely followed our form sheet. Smart betting. He won nett $710 on the day.

Caulfield Sat 13th February – a winning punters day
Race 1
Tashbeeh is flying at the moment and looks obvious top pick here. Fast and Free unlucky last start when held up and looks danger. Ihtsahymn and Kareeming will be silly odds but could sneak into the money.
Strong bet 1 unit #3 Tashbeeh $3
Value bet 0.5 unit #7 Fast and Free $7
Value bet 0.5 unit #1 Ihtsahymn $21
Value bet 0.5 unit #6 Kareeming $26
bet: I liked Tashbeeh but was too short so back Itsahymn and Kareeming $10 each way on both. Result -$40

Race 2
Risque is lightly raced kiwi having first run here for Hayes and big watch. 3 wins from 6 goes. Mossin Around has run 2 nice placings since coming down from Sydney and looks big hope here. Cana can run a race second up for team Hawkes after only fair first up effort. Twice a winner in NSW.
Strong bet 1 unit #2 Risque $3.50
Strong bet 1 unit #5 Mossin Around $4
Value bet 0.5 unit #6 Cana $5.50
bet: I liked Risque and had $20 win at $3.50 and saved $10 win Cana. Result nett +$40

Race 3
Calliope was impressive winner in Sydney before spelling and looks top chance here first up. Likewise concealer at her first start in VIC and looks nice type. Samara Dance won well in Adelaide before spelling and not here for nothing. Lot of respect for stable.
Strong bet 1 unit #3 Calliope $3.50
Value bet 0.5 unit #2 Concealer $8
Value bet 0.5 unit #7 Samara Dancer $10
bet: i didnt bet this race

Race 4
Flying Artie was also good second on debut before spelling but also has wide draw to deal with. Has good wraps on him. Weatherly was well fancied on debut but was out of contention after missing start and then held up. Happy to give another chance with the services of Douglas Whyte.
Strong bet 1 unit #7 Fling Artie $5
Strong bet 1 unit #10 Weatherly $5
bet: with Weatherly out, i backed Fling Artie $30 win. Result nett +$120

Race 5
Thinking the 3yr old filly Heatherly can get away with this with no weight on her back. Toughest test to date but is promising. Politeness is the class runner here first up but has to be a query at the 1100m. She has some big targets later this campaign.
Strong bet 1 unit #11 Heatherly $4
Value bet 0.5 unit #3 Politeness $4.50
bet: i backed Heatherly and Politeness win $20 each. Result nett: +$40

Race 6
Holler looks the obvious top pick after a brilliant win against the older horses first up at G2 level. Mahuta won’t be far away after a good win at Gold Coast carnival. Has super record. Expect Derby winner Tarzino to be getting home hard but probably too short for him.
Strong bet #1 Mahuta $3.50
Strong bet 1 unit #4 Holler $3.50
Value bet 0.5 unit #3 Tarzino $8
bet: i could not split Mahuta and Holler so i backed Tarzino e/w, it finished fourth. Result nett -$20

Race 7
Lucky Hussler was terrific winner last time out with big weight and looks top chance here at WFA level. Turn Me Loose had a super Spring carnival when travelled across the Tasman. Promising Kiwi who will be in it for a long way. Hucklebuck has drawn off the track but if gets cover 3 wide can be in the finish at odds. Bow Creek was super at first Aust run in the Spring then disappointed when favourite in Emirates. Has trialled well for this and is a watch. Suavito and Fenway are both promising mares first up but from good draws can also figure at odds.
Strong bet 1 unit #4 Lucky Hussler $5
Strong bet 1 unit #7 Turn Me Loose $5
Value bet 0.5 unit #8 Hucklebuck $16
Value bet 0.5 unit #13 Bow Creek $10
Value bet 0.5 unit #17 Suavito $18
Value bet 0.5 unit #18 Fenway $21
bet: tough way to play but in the end i went with value $10 ew on Hucklebuck (3rd), Suavito (1st) and Fenway cost $60. Result nett +$234
bet: i also took the Trifecta box 6, a full unit was too much so i took a 20% unit. result +203

Race 8
Burning Front is flying this campaign and looks top pick here. Never going to lose last start. Watch on stablemate Manndawi, first up since only Aust run in Geelong Cup. Pure Karma looked winner last week before fading. Up in class but is promising and drawn to get good run.
Best bet 2 units #6 Burning Front $3.50
Value bet 0.5 unit #10 Manndawi $12
Value bet 0.5 unit #11 Pure Karma $13
bet: i liked Burning Front as a Pete Brinky best bet so i had $30 win and backed Manndawi and Pure Karma $5 e/w. Result nett +$203

Race 9
Thinking if Azkadellia is anywhere near right, she can win the last. Should’ve won twice in the Spring when not suited by leader bias. Not ideal distance and this isn’t her main mission but class should prevail. Shakespearean Lass is flying this campaign and looks good each way hope. Can win if favourite not ready to go.
Best bet 2 units #9 Azkadellia $2.80
Value bet 0.5 unit #4 Shakespearean Lass $8
bet: i liked Azkadellia had $20 win and saved $10 win Shakes Lass. Result nett -$30

2nd leg 4,7,8,9,10,13,17,18

Result nett -$30
